Announcements: ¨ DEV/PRO and 13-2’s, you are scheduled for a Mini-tournament on Sunday, February 28th at Beaufort from 1-5 PM. Our youngest teams will play against their youngest in a fun, learning experience for all. Parents will be able to watch, but bring your chairs in case there isn’t seating! ¨ I have the following for directions to Beaufort Elementary and Beaufort Middle. Take Hwy. 17 to Hwy. 24 (in Jacksonville) toward Swansboro. Follow 24 till it dead-ends into US 70. Turn RIGHT on 70 East toward Beaufort. Take a LEFT onto Hwy. 101, then turn RIGHT onto Carraway Dr. Beaufort Elem., is the first school on your LEFT, while Beaufort Middle is next on your LEFT. Beaufort Elementary School 110 Carraway Dr. Beaufort, NC 28516 ¨ I have been told to allow at least 2 hours 15 minutes. Safer to allow a little more since we haven’t been here before. ¨ Beaufort will have 2 or 3 12 and under teams to play our Dev/Pro groups. They will also have at least one middle school team to play our 13-2 team. We will break the Dev/Pro’s into 2 or 3 teams, depending on how many are traveling. ¨ The girls who went last year had a blast. Plan on the same basic time frame as , though Beaufort will set the exact times. I will send out more info as I get it.

Dev/Pro started our regular sessions 11/22/09. Working with you this year will be Ashlin Morris (Director) and Paula McConnell as core coaches. These girls have worked with the Dev/Pro since we started 4 years ago and have done a fantastic job. Our first sessions were at Roland Grise, but we will move to Hoggard on 12/20. Be sure you check the website for any times. We do still have room for more players, so if you have a friend who was thinking about playing, have them contact Coach Strick’ and come on out on the 22nd! The $25 Try-out fee will still apply for new girls and they will get a Cape Fear T-shirt as well. Dev/Pro players absolutely DO NEED TO REGISTER WITH USAV. Information on how to do that is on the Registration page. It is also a good idea to attend the Reffing Clinic on Dec. 13th @Hoggard
Dev/Pro Concept: Our Dev/Pro Program is designed as a low-pressure learning experience for players 8-12. This gives them the opportunity to learn basic skills in a less competitive environment where the size difference between 8’s and 12’s is not a huge factor. We are already seeing the positive impact of this program on our travel teams. Our 13’s and 14’s teams this year were much more competitive in the Region because we had several players who already had at least one year experience. Some were already in year three. Sure makes the 13/14 coaches job easier, and makes tournaments lots more fun.
Goals for 09-10 1. 30-36 players 2. 2-3 In-House Mini-Tournaments with players refereeing the last 2! 3. Attend one In-Region Tournament 4. Add one team of boys 8-12 *****************************************
