SNOW OR ICE IN THE FORECAST?
The Carolina Region office will not cancel an event until the very last minute, trying to be as sure as possible. Here's the deal, Tournaments cannot be rescheduled. A weekend lost is simply gone. All the dates are already used.
The Region website is the main source of all news as to holding or canceling a tournament. Usually it is the POINTS PAGE that has this information. The same Points Page that has so much other important info for you such as locations, times, pools, site specific info like no chairs or food allowed, etc.
Folks, understand that Cape Fear does not want you to travel into a hazardous situation, but we also cannot cancel from our side unless we know it's unsafe to drive. The Region does not want to cancel either because of the lost date. The main thing I ask of you is to look at the weather, your comfort with possible tough travel, and the Region POINTS PAGE. I have occasionally canceled, but generally leave it up to 1) the CR and 2) the Team Coach and Parents.
And, I will not have any special info unless it's on the CR POINTS PAGE. Generally, a decision is made by Noon Friday before the tournament, or Noon Saturday for Sunday events.
Thanks for Reading,
Our CFV In-House Officiating Clinic was December 11, and was attended by a small hoard of players and coaches. If you attended AND took the test, you are good for this season. If you did not attend (sorry, we did not have room for all you older players) you must take the USAV Officiating course online. Every team MUST have pretty much everyone certified as an Official and/or Scorer. Please get this done.
Here is how to register for the Online Officiating Clinic.
Follow the Link: https://webpoint.usavolleyball.org/wp15/IntraLock/Login.wp
The Officiating Clinic Course must be completed by 12/31/16 to ensure the ability to play/work in the first tournament. It is NOT recommended that you complete the Online Course by yourself as it it VERY challenging. Get together with other players, each with a computer and complete it together.
While you are logged into your USAV, please check your Member Profile - On the far right where it says "Region/Club", make sure it says "Carolina Region/Cape Fear VBC".
Cape Fear Volleyball has moved!
Cape Fear has moved to Sound Stage #6 on the EUE-Screen Gems Studio grounds. We are excited, as this facility has a super high ceiling, room for three courts, and (Drum roll please....) HEAT AND AC. Also, the parking area has lighting - no more hikes through the darkness to the Hangar.
Our New Location: Screen Gem Studios 1223 N 23rd St Wilmington, NC - Park in the Lot just past the Guard Gate and walk to Building 6. If the Guard asks you to park elsewhere, PLEASE DO SO, as we share the grounds with several other entities.
Studio CFV is our site name.
